AI Engineer
Job details
AI Engineer | Generative AI & LLMs | Ghent, Belgium (On-site)
We're partnering with an ambitious AI startup that's rethinking how legal due diligence is delivered during mergers and acquisitions. Instead of creating software for law firms, they've built an AI-first platform that completes complex legal analysis for clients, combining advanced AI with expert review to dramatically reduce both turnaround times and costs.
Backed by venture capital and already working with major organisations across the M&A space, they're now looking for an AI Engineer to help expand the capabilities of their platform and develop the next generation of AI-powered legal automation.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building production AI systems rather than training foundation models. You'll help develop intelligent applications that can understand, analyse and reason over large volumes of complex documentation.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Developing AI-powered features using Large Language Models for document understanding and information extraction
- Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and AI agent workflows
- Designing evaluation frameworks to continuously measure and improve model performance
- Optimising prompts, retrieval strategies and context management to maximise accuracy
- Developing scalable backend services and APIs capable of handling large document datasets
- Collaborating closely with product specialists and domain experts to translate real business challenges into AI solutions
- Improving the reliability, efficiency and scalability of production AI systems

- A data-driven mindset with an interest in measuring and improving AI outputs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity package
- Join an early-stage, venture-backed AI company with significant growth plans
- Work on real-world Generative AI products solving challenging business problems
- High levels of ownership and autonomy from day one
- Small engineering team where your ideas have a direct impact
- Opportunity to shape the future of AI within a rapidly evolving industry
- Full-time, on-site role based in Ghent, Belgium
If you're passionate about building production-grade AI applications and want to work on technology that's transforming a traditional industry, we'd love to tell you more about this opportunity.
