Koda Staff is working exclusively with GAMING1 to hire a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Product team within Platform Engineering.

This is not a traditional Data Engineer role. You will build and evolve the data platform used by Data Engineers and Data Analysts, delivering reusable services, tooling, and self-service capabilities in a Data Mesh and Platform-as-a-Product context.

You’ll join a small, specialised team whose mission is to enable data teams across multiple product domains to operate autonomously, consistently, and at scale.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will design and operate the foundations that allow GAMING1’s data ecosystem to scale safely and efficiently.

You will focus on platform capabilities, adoption, and usability — ensuring the right abstractions, tooling, and golden paths are in place for data teams to succeed independently.

Your Mission

• Design, build, and evolve a robust, cloud-native data platform

• Deliver reusable platform services rather than one-off solutions

• Enable autonomy and consistency across data teams

• Measure success through platform adoption and self-service usage

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain backend and platform services powering the data platform

• Translate data domain needs into clean, well-designed platform services

• Apply DDD and Hexagonal Architecture principles where appropriate

• Operate services on AWS and Kubernetes, owning the full lifecycle

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Analysts to drive adoption

• Act as a senior technical contributor, mentoring and elevating others

Experience & Skills

• 4+ years’ experience as a Data Platform Engineer or Data Engineer

• Strong platform mindset with a data engineering foundation

• Expert-level Python and advanced .NET

• Solid understanding of distributed systems

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS data services

• Experience or strong interest in Data Mesh concepts

• Clear communicator with a strong documentation mindset

• Fluent in English (French is a plus)
