Koda Staff is working exclusively with GAMING1, a leading digital gaming and entertainment group, to hire a Head of Engineering to lead a key Product Engineering area.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who wants to shape how engineering operates at scale—balancing strategy, people leadership, and execution—while enabling teams to deliver high-quality, customer-centric products.
The Opportunity
As Head of Engineering, you will create the conditions for high-performing product engineering teams to thrive. Your focus will be on:

Developing engineering leadership at scale
You will operate at Area level, partnering closely with Product leadership to translate long-term strategy into clear, measurable outcomes delivered through short, iterative cycles.
Your Mission

Drive value creation through autonomous, product-driven engineering teams
-
Co-own 1–3 year engineering and product objectives with the Head of Product
-
Ensure engineering standards around quality, scalability, security, and performance
-
Grow and develop Engineering Managers and future leaders
-
Enable thoughtful adoption of automation and AI where it genuinely improves outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Technical Leadership

Define and evolve the engineering vision and long-term strategy for your area

Partner with Area Domain Architects to set architectural guardrails
-
Ensure consistency, coherence, and scalability across teams
-
Improve delivery capability through better workflows, tooling, and metrics
People Leadership & Organisation Development

Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers
-
Build a high-trust culture focused on autonomy, accountability, and psychological safety
-
Own hiring, retention, and talent planning for your area
-
Shape team composition and capability growth in partnership with Product
Execution & Operational Excellence
-
Ensure predictable delivery aligned with strategic goals
-
Provide transparency on progress, risks, and dependencies
-
Remove organisational bottlenecks that slow teams down
-
Support escalation and problem-solving at scale
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with Product, Design, Data, and other stakeholders
-
Align engineering outcomes to customer value and business signals
-
Collaborate across Areas to share learnings and uplift practices organisation-wide
What This Role Is Not
To set clear expectations, this role is not:

A pure delivery or programme management role
-
A budget-only or finance-led position
-
A chief architect role dictating technical solutions
-
A hands-off management role removed from engineering reality
This role is about how engineering works, not micromanaging delivery or architecture.
