Director of Project Controls – Major Capital Program
Location: Miami (with business travel)

We are representing a leading national contractor seeking a highly strategic Project Controls & Commercial Leader.

This is not a traditional project-level controls role.

The organization is looking for a senior leader who can operate at program level, partnering directly with executive leadership to strengthen how project controls, commercial governance, risk management, and operational reporting are embedded across a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.

The program includes large-scale government-funded healthcare, education, and infrastructure projects delivered through complex design-build and CMAR structures, with the overall portfolio valued at approximately $2.5B.

This role offers the opportunity to help shape the future state of project controls across a major contractor’s business while playing a critical role on a long-term program expected to run through 2032+. The position also offers executive-level visibility alongside a highly competitive compensation package.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will operate as a strategic partner to operational leadership, helping drive a more proactive and commercially focused approach to project delivery across the portfolio.

Key areas of focus include:

Program-level project controls leadership
Cost, schedule, forecasting, and reporting integration
Commercial governance and risk management
Change management and entitlement strategy
REAs, claims support, and defensible documentation
Executive-level reporting and stakeholder management
Establishing scalable controls processes and governance frameworks
Supporting operational teams across both JV-led and self-perform projects

This individual will play a key role in helping the business move beyond reactive controls management and toward a more mature, forward-looking project delivery environment.

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in senior project controls professionals who have operated within large-scale, compliance-heavy construction environments.

Strong consideration will be given to candidates with experience across:

Government-funded programs
Major healthcare or infrastructure programs
EPC or top-tier general contractor environments
Complex commercial or government construction portfolios
High-level cost, schedule, risk, and change management oversight

The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, operationally credible, and comfortable operating in front of sophisticated clients, owner’s representatives, and executive stakeholders.
